There's a few brothers in congs near me who are doing pretty well for themselves. A couple of them own their own businesses and employ others to do most of the hard graft. They are the worst kind of cheap coz they actually have a few bob but are too tight to spend it. Now where's that scripture that shows that you can't bring your riches with you? So 2 faced!

I love life, I love humans!
by Gladring ini'm quite a laid back person and am usually happy to sit back and take it all in but i feel i have to speak up.
i believe everyone is entitled to their opinions and do not like censorship.
i have been disturbed by the increasing number of misleading posts defending the wtbts.

Bravo! Well said!
I spent months thinking i needed to replace the JWs with some other religion or notion but, like you said, that's just a left over notion from the WTS to try to stop people from leaving, misquoting Peter's words to Jesus about where else shall we go.
To humans!

How do I get my file from the Congregation I used to attend?
by QuestioningEverything inyears ago, i was df'd-then reinstated.
is it possible to get my file and all of the personal information obtained it in from the congregation.
i recently was informed that those are kept on the kh premises and others may occassionally have access to them.

There may be some law in your country or state that allows you access to or a copy of any information held on or about you. Maybe get some legal advice on the matter. It would be interesting to see what they have on you as I'm sure they didn't expect you'd ever see it at the time it was written up.

Hi Blondie,
No, I'm not serious. I was just joking around. I don't mind if they call but none of the r&f are brave enough to. We've had a couple of elders visit on occasion but they always ask before calling around.

Given that I have 4 very large dogs, I like this one:
'Jehovah's Witnesses welcome! Dog food is expensive!'
What would you say?

Calling on an old RV
by Gladring inmy husband and i were just talking at dinner about people we have called on or studied with.
some people i really liked, but it was clear that bringing them in the truth was like pushing a rope uphill.
we had a little chuckle that they were smarter than we were all along.

I'm slightly worried that she's going to call over to our house with a xmas tree and a pile of decorations though! She really goes all out for the holidays and thinks all houses with kids should do the same. Might be tough to explain the new decor to our in family!

Coping With Witness Relatives Cult & Authentic Dual Personalities- Hassan
by flipper inmany of us who have witness relatives have experienced them fading in and out of the cult personality to their real, authentic personality.
it's like they are a totally different person.
as steve hassan says in his book, " releasing the bonds ", " it is an eerie experience when, mid-conversation, you sense a different identity has assumed control.

I've got Hassan's other book but think I'll have to add this one to my wish list also! In the meantime, thanks for the excerpts Flipper.
I've tried various things with the family and friends that are still in. I guess I always err on the side of caution though coz I don't want to push them to the point where they won't talk to me. If hubby Gladring is there we end up almost doing a good cop/bad cop scenario on the person where he pushes them a bit to get them to think and I try to be the more respectful/compassionate one.
One thing that has had limited success is to ask them why they are upset that I am no longer an active witness. Usually they won't get specific but the underlying fear of me, gladring and our child dying at Armageddon is usually the cause. So i ask them straight out, Are you afraid we're going to die at Armageddon? Most often they wont give a yes or no answer but say something that I translate as a vague yes. So I explain that I'm not afraid of that happening and that if god is loving then he will see in my heart that i was stumbled by what the wts did (UN/blood/child molesters/dishonest quotes, etc) and that my motives were pure and that I didn't leave to pursue an immoral lifestyle or because of laziness or selfishness. I feel that this way tackles their wts-based assumptions head on and hopefully they realise that those notions aren't true. Not everyone who leaves ends up in the mire or having their eyes pecked out by the birdies post-tribulation. Even if they dont change much after that conversation, it does seem to alleviate the pain/fear/upset they had been dealing with and it encourages more openness and honesty also.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 11-02-08 WT Study (PURE LANG)

are you speaking the "pure language" fluently?

Thanks once again Blondie. I appreciate all your work.
Jeremy C - well said! You summed it up really well. You said what I was thinking reading it but put it much better than I would have!
I remember the "pure language" set of conventions quite clearly. Its so true that the gb use this phrase to make sure they "guide" all the decisions jws make in their lives. Nothing is left out, whatever they can't make a direct rule about has some vague dos and don'ts nonetheless. How can the dubs not see the level of control they are giving away! It blows my mind that I was like that up until less than a year ago.
Very glad to be out

Did you see the "Memorial Season" as a tradition of men?
by truthseeker inthe memorial season.
what does it conjure up in your mind?
longer daylight hours?
-
Amha·aret
I think the 3 months of "Memorial Season" really help to boost the numbers - extra pioneers, extra hours, extra placements and of course the extra attendees all of which are counted as potential sheep even though most of the time the people come to be polite or to support their believing spouses.
I wonder how the yearly report would look if it wasn't for that extra push?
